Description

Crispy and flavorful Air Fryer Brussels Sprouts perfect as a healthy side dish or snack. Seasoned with olive oil, garlic, salt, and pepper, then optionally topped with balsamic glaze, pomegranate molasses, maple syrup, and Parmesan cheese for extra depth.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Brussels Sprouts:

  • 1 pound Brussels sprouts
  • 2 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 3 cloves garlic, thinly sliced (optional)

Optional Toppings:

  • 1 tablespoon balsamic glaze or reduced balsamic vinegar
  • Drizzle pomegranate molasses
  • 2 teaspoons pure maple syrup
  • 3 tablespoons freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Prepare Brussels Sprouts: Trim off the ends and remove any brown outer leaves. Cut them in half from stem to end, and quarter the largest ones to ensure even cooking.
  2. Optional Soak: Place the Brussels sprouts in a large bowl and cover with warm tap water. Let sit for 10 minutes to tenderize the middle if desired, then drain and pat dry.
  3. Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 375 degrees Fahrenheit, usually about 3 minutes.
  4. Season Brussels Sprouts: Place dried sprouts back in a bowl, drizzle with olive oil, sprinkle salt and pepper, and toss to coat evenly.
  5. Initial Cooking: Add Brussels sprouts to the air fryer basket and cook for 5 minutes.
  6. Shake Basket: Remove basket and shake to toss sprouts, then cook another 5 minutes.
  7. Add Garlic: Add garlic slices, toss sprouts in basket to coat.
  8. Final Crisping: Cook for an additional 2 to 4 minutes, shaking basket often until Brussels sprouts are deeply crispy.
  9. Add Toppings: Transfer cooked sprouts to a serving bowl. Stir in any desired optional toppings including balsamic glaze, pomegranate molasses, maple syrup, and Parmesan cheese.
  10. Serve: Enjoy your hot, crispy Air Fryer Brussels Sprouts as a delicious side dish or snack.

Notes

  • TO STORE: Refrigerate cooked Brussels sprouts in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
  • TO REHEAT: Rewarm leftovers on a baking sheet in an oven preheated to 350 degrees Fahrenheit until heated through.
  • TO FREEZE: Freezing is not recommended as texture may become mushy. However, if freezing, use airtight freezer-safe containers and thaw overnight in the refrigerator before reheating.
  • Soaking Brussels sprouts is optional and affects tenderness; skipping soaking will yield firmer sprouts.
  • Shake the air fryer basket often during cooking to ensure even crisping.
  • Adjust cooking time slightly depending on the size of the Brussels sprouts and the model of air fryer.
