- 8 slices bread
- 8 slices cheese (or roughly ½ cup shredded cheese per sandwich)
- 4 tablespoons butter (softened, at room temperature)
- 1 teaspoon garlic salt
Instructions
- Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 370 degrees F (188 degrees C). For a convection style air fryer, select 'AIR FRY' and set the timer to 8 minutes.
- Butter the Bread: Spread softened butter evenly on one side of each slice of bread. Place half of the buttered slices butter side down onto the air fryer racks or basket.
- Add Cheese: Add sliced or shredded cheese evenly on top of the buttered side of the bread. Trim excess cheese from edges if desired to prevent overflow.
- Assemble Sandwiches: Top the cheese with the remaining buttered bread slices, butter side facing up. Sprinkle garlic salt over the assembled sandwiches if desired.
- Cook in Air Fryer: For a convection style air fryer, add the racks with sandwiches when prompted to 'ADD FOOD'. Flip sandwiches when the indicator says 'TURN FOOD', swapping the positions of the racks for even cooking. For a basket style air fryer, place the basket with sandwiches inside and cook for 5 minutes. Flip the sandwiches and continue cooking for an additional 3 minutes.
- Serve: Remove grilled cheese sandwiches from the air fryer once golden brown and cheese is melted. Let cool slightly before serving.
