Description

Delicious chocolate covered pretzels with optional white almond bark drizzle and various toppings. Perfect for a sweet and salty snack or party treat.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 24 whole pretzel rods (1 10/12 oz. bag)
  • 12 ounces semisweet baking chocolate, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil or vegetable shortening
  • 1 teaspoon corn syrup

Toppings

  • 3 ounces vanilla/white almond bark for drizzling, chopped (optional)
  • Sprinkles, crushed candy canes, toffee bits, mini candies, chopped nuts, crushed Oreos/cookies, shredded coconut, etc. (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prep: Line a very large-rimmed baking sheet or your counter with parchment paper and set aside. Prepare any toppings if needed.
  2. Melt Chocolate: Combine the semisweet chocolate, coconut oil or vegetable shortening, and corn syrup in a medium microwave-safe bowl. Microwave at 50% power for 60 seconds, stir, then continue microwaving at 50% power in 30-second intervals, stirring between until the chocolate is melted and smooth.
  3. Dip Pretzels: Transfer the melted chocolate to a glass for easy dipping. Quickly dip each pretzel rod into the chocolate, swirling to coat about two-thirds of the rod. Allow excess chocolate to drip off and place the pretzel on the prepared parchment paper.
  4. Add Toppings: Immediately sprinkle desired toppings over the dipped pretzels. Skip some pretzels if you plan to drizzle them with white almond bark. Repeat with remaining pretzels. Reheat chocolate briefly at 50% power in the microwave if it becomes too firm during dipping.
  5. Set: Let the dipped pretzels set at room temperature for about 30 to 40 minutes. Avoid refrigerating as it can cause white streaks and pooling.
  6. White Drizzle (Optional): Place the white almond bark and 1/4 teaspoon coconut oil or shortening in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for 30 seconds, stir, then continue microwaving at 15-second increments, stirring until melted. Let it rest if it becomes too thin to thicken.
  7. Decorate: Transfer the melted almond bark to a plastic bag and snip a small hole in a corner. Drizzle the white chocolate over selected pretzels and immediately sprinkle with toppings.
  8. Final Set: Allow the pretzels to set at room temperature for around 30 minutes or until the drizzle hardens before serving.

Notes

  • Use vanilla almond bark for white drizzle instead of white chocolate to avoid scorching and to achieve a smooth, glossy finish.
  • Avoid adding water-based flavorings as water causes chocolate to seize; use oil-based flavorings instead.
  • Toppings can be customized widely with sprinkles, crushed candies, nuts, and more.
  • Do not refrigerate pretzels to speed setting to avoid chocolate defects such as white streaking.
  • If chocolate firms up during dipping, briefly reheat in microwave at 50% power to maintain smoothness.
