Description

Festive and delicious Christmas Caramel Pretzel Bites combining crunchy pretzels, gooey caramel, and colorful candy melts, perfect for holiday snacking and gifting.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 48 mini pretzel twists
  • 12 soft caramels, unwrapped and cut in half

Candy Melts and Toppings

  • 1 cup red Candy Melts
  • 1 cup green Candy Melts
  • 1 cup white Candy Melts
  • 1-2 tablespoons vegetable shortening
  • Holiday sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  2. Arrange Pretzels and Caramel: Place half of the mini pretzel twists on the baking sheet in a single layer. Top each pretzel with a half unwrapped caramel and bake for 5 minutes until the caramels are softened.
  3. Top with Pretzels and Cool: Immediately remove from oven and press another pretzel on top of each softened caramel. Leave them on the baking sheet and allow to cool completely to set.
  4. Melt Red Candy Melts: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine red candy melts with 1 teaspoon of vegetable shortening. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring after each until smooth. Add more shortening 1 teaspoon at a time if needed for smooth consistency.
  5. Drizzle Red Candy: Transfer melted red candy melts to a piping bag or plastic bag with a small corner cut. Drizzle evenly over each pretzel bite covering the tops.
  6. Repeat for Green and White Candy Melts: Melt green candy melts with shortening using the same method and drizzle over the pretzels. Repeat the process with white candy melts.
  7. Add Sprinkles and Set: Immediately sprinkle holiday sprinkles over the white candy melts before they set. Allow all candy melts to fully harden before serving or storing.

Notes

  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
  • For longer storage, keep the pretzel bites refrigerated to maintain freshness.
  • Use vegetable shortening to keep candy melts smooth and prevent thickening.
  • Warm caramels soften quickly—work fast when pressing pretzels on top for best results.
  • Customize sprinkles to match holiday themes or personal preference.
