Main Ingredients
- 5 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 16 ounce marshmallows (1 bag)
- 3 drops green gel food coloring
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 5 ½ cups rice krispies cereal
Decorations
- 12 pretzel sticks
- Christmas sprinkles
- 4 ounce white chocolate, melted
Instructions
- Prepare baking dish: Lightly grease a 13×9-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper and set aside.
- Melt butter and marshmallows: In a large pot, melt the butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir continuously until mixture is smooth and melted.
- Add color and vanilla: Remove pot from heat, add green gel food coloring and vanilla extract, then stir to combine.
- Mix in cereal: Fold in the rice krispies cereal until fully coated with the marshmallow mixture.
- Press mixture into dish: Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and gently press down without packing too firmly to keep the treats soft.
- Set treats: Allow the Krispie treats to set at room temperature for at least one hour.
- Shape treats: Slice the set treats horizontally in half, then cut into triangles to resemble Christmas trees.
- Decorate treats: Melt white chocolate according to package instructions. Insert one pretzel stick into the base of each triangle as the tree trunk. Pipe melted white chocolate on each tree and sprinkle with Christmas sprinkles.
- Final set and serve: Allow decorations to set before serving and enjoying your festive treats.
Notes
- Use fresh marshmallows and cereal for the best flavor as stale ingredients can affect the taste and texture.
- Store treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week to maintain freshness.
- Do not press the mixture too firmly into the baking dish to avoid hard treats; a gentle press keeps them soft and chewy.
