Description

Delightfully festive Christmas Wreath Cookies made with butter, marshmallows, cornflakes, and decorated with red candies for a cheerful holiday treat. These no-bake, easy-to-make cookies are perfect for holiday parties and family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 stick butter (1/2 cup)
  • 30 large marshmallows
  • 6 drops green gel food coloring or 1 and 1/4 teaspoons liquid green food coloring
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 5 cups cornflakes
  • 1 bottle red hot candies or 1/2 cup red candy coated chocolates such as mini M&M's
  • Cooking spray for greasing

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pan: Line a sheet pan with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat to prevent sticking.
  2. Melt butter and marshmallows: Place the marshmallows and butter in a large microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30 second increments, stirring between each, until the mixture is fully melted and combined.
  3. Add color and flavor: Stir in the green food coloring and vanilla extract until the marshmallow mixture is smooth and evenly colored.
  4. Mix in cereal: Add the cornflakes to the bowl and gently fold them into the marshmallow mixture, ensuring all cereal pieces are well coated.
  5. Shape the wreaths: Grease a 1/4 cup measuring cup with cooking spray, pack the mixture firmly into it, and turn it out onto the lined sheet pan. Use damp or greased fingers to create a hole in the center, shaping it like a wreath.
  6. Decorate: Press red hot candies or red candy-coated chocolates onto the wreath to simulate holly berries.
  7. Cool and serve: Allow the wreath cookies to cool completely until firm before serving.

Notes

  • Using cooking spray on your fingers helps prevent the sticky mixture from adhering while shaping.
  • You can substitute cornflakes with Rice Krispies or similar cereals for a different texture.
  • If you prefer a milder green color, adjust the quantity of food coloring accordingly.
  • For a gluten-free version, ensure the cornflakes used are certified gluten-free.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature to maintain freshness.
