Description

Fiesta Fudge Cookies are a delightful treat combining rich unsweetened chocolate and sweetened condensed milk with a cinnamon-spiced sugar cookie mix. These quick-to-make cookies are topped with Hershey's Hugs chocolates, adding a festive and creamy finishing touch. Perfect for parties or a cozy snack, these cookies bake up soft and chewy with a hint of cinnamon warmth.

Ingredients

Scale

Cookie Dough

  • ⅓ cup butter
  • 6 oz unsweetened chocolate
  • 1 14 oz sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 lb 1.5 oz sugar cookie mix
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Topping

  • 40 Hershey Hugs unwrapped

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F and prepare two baking sheets by lining them with parchment paper or silicone baking mats. Set them aside for later use.
  2. Melt Butter and Chocolate: In a large microwavable bowl, microwave the butter and unsweetened chocolate for 1 minute. Stir well, then microwave for an additional 1 minute or until the butter is completely melted and the chocolate mixture is smooth.
  3. Add Condensed Milk: Stir the sweetened condensed milk into the melted chocolate mixture until fully combined.
  4. Mix Dry Ingredients: Add the sugar cookie mix and ground cinnamon to the chocolate mixture. Stir until the dough is well blended and uniform.
  5. Portion Dough: Using a medium cookie scoop, portion out about 1 tablespoon of dough for each cookie. Place dough balls 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheets to allow room for spreading.
  6. Bake Cookies: Bake in the preheated oven for 7 minutes or until the edges of the cookies lose their shiny appearance. Be careful not to overbake to keep the cookies soft.
  7. Add Candy Topping: Immediately after baking, press one unwrapped Hershey Hugs candy into the center of each warm cookie with the pointed side facing up.
  8. Cool Cookies: Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes, then remove them carefully. To help the candy spread slightly over the top, gently tap the edge of each cookie.
  9. Finish Cooling: Let the cookies cool completely before serving to ensure the candy topping sets properly.

Notes

  • Hershey’s Hugs are striped chocolates featuring a white creme center hugged by milk chocolate, adding a unique flavor and appearance to the cookies.
  • A 12 oz bag of Hershey’s Hugs contains approximately 70 pieces, enough for about 40 cookies as called for in this recipe.
  • For fun variations, try substituting Hershey’s Hugs with Hot Cocoa Kisses, Peppermint Bark Bells, Mint Truffles, or Candy Cane Mint Chocolates to create seasonal or flavor twists.
  • Store baked cookies covered at room temperature to maintain freshness and texture.
