Description

Delightfully festive Grinch Christmas Truffles made with crushed Oreos, creamy whipped cream cheese spread, and coated in vibrant green vanilla almond bark. These fun, bite-sized treats are finished with red heart sprinkles to capture the whimsical spirit of the holiday season.

Ingredients

Scale

Truffle Base

  • 36 regular Oreo cookies
  • ½ cup whipped cream cheese spread

Coating and Decoration

  • 12 ounces vanilla almond bark (½ of a 24-ounce package)
  • Green gel food coloring, as needed
  • 18 red heart sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Crush Oreos: Place the Oreos in a food processor or blender and crush completely into fine crumbs, which should take about 2-3 minutes.
  2. Mix with Cream Cheese: Pour the Oreo crumbs into a large mixing bowl and stir in the whipped cream cheese spread until a thick, uniform mixture forms. For easier mixing, use clean hands to combine thoroughly.
  3. Scoop and Shape: Using a 1½ tablespoon cookie scoop, portion the mixture and roll into smooth balls by hand.
  4. Chill Truffles: Arrange the truffle balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and refrigerate for 30 minutes to 1 hour until firm.
  5. Melt Almond Bark: Place the vanilla almond bark in a medium microwave-safe bowl and microwave for 1 minute. Stir well, then continue microwaving in 15-30 second increments, stirring after each, until fully melted, about 2 minutes total. Avoid overheating to prevent seizing.
  6. Add Coloring: Stir in green gel food coloring gradually until the desired vibrant green color is achieved. Do not use liquid food coloring as it will cause the almond bark to seize.
  7. Dip Truffles: Dip each truffle ball into the melted almond bark until fully coated. Allow excess coating to drip off, then return the truffles to the parchment-lined baking sheet.
  8. Decorate: While the coating is still soft, place one red heart sprinkle on top of each truffle.
  9. Harden Coating: Refrigerate the decorated truffles for an additional 30 minutes to 1 hour, or until the coating is completely hardened.
  10. Serve: Enjoy the truffles cold or at room temperature for best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Store truffles covered in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
  • Freeze truffles well wrapped in a freezer-safe container or bag for 3-4 months.
  • You can substitute your favorite Oreo varieties in place of the regular Oreos.
  • If using regular cream cheese instead of whipped cream cheese spread, soften it to room temperature before mixing and use slightly less than ½ cup.
  • Feel free to use any heart candy, sprinkles, or holiday-themed decorations to personalize the truffles.
  • Using your hands to combine Oreo crumbs and cream cheese makes mixing easier than using a spoon.
  • Always use gel food coloring with almond bark, as liquid food coloring will cause the coating to seize and become unusable.
