Description

A bold and refreshing Spicy Dill Pickle Margarita that combines the tangy zest of dill pickle brine with the heat of hot honey and the citrus kick of lime juice. Rimmed with Tajin and topped with sparkling water, this cocktail offers a perfect blend of spicy, sour, and savory flavors, garnished with mini dill pickles for an extra pickle punch.

Ingredients

Scale

Rim

  • 1-2 tbsp Tajin
  • 1 tbsp honey (for brushing rim)

Cocktail

  • 2 oz tequila
  • 1 oz dill pickle brine
  • 1 oz Cointreau
  • 1/2 oz lime juice
  • 1 tbsp hot honey (adjust to taste)
  • sparkling water, to top
  • mini dill pickles, to garnish

Hot Honey (optional)

  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup hot sauce (such as Frank’s)
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Glass Rim: Brush the rim of your cocktail glass with honey, then dip and roll it into Tajin on a shallow plate. Shake off any excess to create a flavorful and spicy rim.
  2. Mix the Cocktail: In a shaker, combine tequila, dill pickle brine, Cointreau, lime juice, and hot honey. Add ice, then shake vigorously until the mixture is well chilled.
  3. Serve: Strain the cocktail into the prepared glass. Top with sparkling water to add a refreshing fizz.
  4. Garnish: Add mini dill pickles to the drink for a decorative and tasty garnish that enhances the pickle flavor.
  5. Make Hot Honey (Optional): In a small saucepan over low heat, combine honey, hot sauce, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and red pepper flakes. Stir continuously for 1-2 minutes until the spices dissolve and the mixture is well combined. Let cool before use or storing in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks at room temperature or longer in the refrigerator.

Notes

  • Use good quality tequila and Cointreau for the best flavor.
  • Adjust the amount of hot honey depending on your preferred spice level.
  • The hot honey can be made ahead of time and stored for convenience.
  • If you don’t have Tajin, a mix of chili powder and salt can be used for the rim.
  • Sparkling water adds a refreshing fizz but can be omitted for a stronger cocktail.
