Description

Valentine Snack Mix is a delightful and festive treat perfect for celebrating the holiday. This mix combines crunchy cereals, mini pretzels, colorful Valentine’s Day M&M’s, and creamy white chocolate, coated together for a sweet and salty snack that’s easy to prepare and fun to share.

Ingredients

Scale

Mix Ingredients

  • 2 cups Corn Chex® cereal
  • 1 cup mini pretzel twists
  • 2 cups Rice Chex® cereal
  • 2 cups Honey Nut Cheerios cereal or plain Cheerios
  • 1 cup Valentine’s Day M&M’s red, white, and pink (plus 1 cup for topping)

Chocolate Coating

  • 3-1/4 cups white chocolate chips (just under 2 bags)
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons vegetable oil or canola oil
  • Valentine’s Day sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Pan: Line a large sheet pan with parchment paper and set it aside to use later for spreading the snack mix.
  2. Combine Snack Mix: In a very large bowl, add the Corn Chex, mini pretzel twists, Rice Chex, Honey Nut Cheerios, and 1 cup of Valentine’s Day M&M’s. Stir well to evenly combine all the dry ingredients.
  3. Melt White Chocolate: In a medium microwave-safe bowl, combine 3 cups of white chocolate chips with 1-1/2 teaspoons of vegetable or canola oil. Microwave for 30 seconds, stir for 15 seconds, then microwave for another 15 seconds. Stir until smooth. If needed, continue microwaving in 15-second bursts, stirring in between until the chocolate is completely melted and glossy.
  4. Coat Snack Mix: Pour the melted white chocolate over the mixed dry ingredients in the bowl. Quickly and gently stir until all pieces are well coated with the white chocolate.
  5. Spread and Decorate: Transfer the coated snack mix immediately to the prepared sheet pan. Spread into an even layer. Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of Valentine’s M&M’s and optional Valentine’s Day sprinkles evenly over the top. Optionally, melt the last 1/4 cup of white chocolate chips, place in a small plastic bag, cut a tip off, and pipe decorative stripes over the mixture.
  6. Set the Snack Mix: Allow the white chocolate to firm up at room temperature, or place the sheet pan in the refrigerator for about 10–20 minutes until completely hardened.
  7. Serve and Store: Break the hardened mixture into bite-sized pieces. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container at room temperature. For longer storage, freeze in a sealed container or bag.

Notes

  • For best results, work quickly when coating the mix to ensure even coverage before the chocolate hardens.
  • Use parchment paper on the sheet pan to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
  • The optional drizzle adds an extra decorative touch but can be skipped if desired.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week, or freeze for up to three months.
  • You can substitute the Valentine’s Day M&M’s with any festive colored candy or chocolate chips.
