Description

Delight in these adorable Valentine’s Oreo Truffles made with crushed golden Oreo cookies and creamy cream cheese, coated in vanilla candy melts and adorned with festive sprinkles. Perfect for sharing at your next celebration or gifting to loved ones, these truffles combine rich flavors with a smooth, sweet finish.

Ingredients

Scale

Truffle Base

  • 36-42 golden Oreo cookies
  • 6 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
  • 20 drops pink food coloring, divided (adjust as needed)

Coating & Decoration

  • 16 ounces vanilla candy coating
  • Favorite Valentine sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Oreo Crumbs: Place 36-42 golden Oreo cookies in a food processor and pulse until finely ground. Alternatively, place the cookies in a sealed plastic bag and crush them with a rolling pin until you get fine crumbs.
  2. Mix Truffle Base: Transfer the Oreo crumbs into a mixer bowl or keep them in the food processor. Add 6 ounces of softened cream cheese and 10 drops of pink food coloring. Mix thoroughly until the mixture has a uniform pink hue and the crumbs are fully incorporated.
  3. Form the Truffles: Check the consistency of the mixture—it should be moist enough to hold its shape when rolled. If too thin, add more cookie crumbs gradually. Using a small ice cream scoop, melon baller, or a rounded teaspoon, scoop out uniform portions and roll them between your palms to form firm 1 1/4-inch balls. Place each ball on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. You should get approximately 24 truffles. Freeze the balls while preparing the coating.
  4. Melt the Candy Coating: Break the 16 ounces of vanilla candy coating into pieces and microwave in a microwave-safe bowl in 20-second intervals, stirring in between until completely melted and smooth. This process usually takes 1 to 2 minutes.
  5. Dip the Truffles: Using a fork or dipping tool, dip each frozen truffle ball into the melted candy coating. Lift and gently tap the fork on the edge of the bowl to remove excess coating. Place the coated truffle back on the parchment paper.
  6. Decorate: Immediately sprinkle your favorite Valentine-themed sprinkles on top of the wet coating before it sets. Repeat the dipping and decorating process with the remaining truffles.
  7. Set the Coating: Return the tray with the coated truffles to the refrigerator and chill for at least 15 minutes to allow the candy coating to harden.
  8. Serve: Once set, allow the truffles to sit at room temperature briefly before serving for the best taste and texture. Enjoy your Valentine’s Oreo Truffles!

Notes

  • Store truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days; they taste best chilled.
  • Truffles can be frozen for up to 3 months; thaw overnight in the refrigerator before serving.
  • If you don’t have a food processor, crushing cookies in a sealed plastic bag with a rolling pin works well.
  • Use additional cookie crumbs to adjust dough consistency if too soft to roll.
  • Use a toothpick to help remove excess candy coating from the bottom of the fork after dipping, then transfer to the parchment paper gently.
  • Be creative with decorations: add crushed candy, sprinkles, or drizzle contrasting chocolate over the hardened coating for festive flair.
  • Cream cheese can safely be left at room temperature for up to 2 hours according to FDA guidelines.
